Yokohama Ferry Terminal – Tokyo, Japan

This project negotiates skillfully between landscape and building, ground and floor, floor and wall or boundary. In this way, it can be seen as a diplomatic space. It is also sited at a ferry terminal, a gate way to other places, a non place of sorts, which creates the kind of "exceptional space" within a city framework allowing it to function in a diplomatic way; a vessel of sorts.
